Our Lady of the Lake volleyball reaches MHSAA Div. 4 state final
(Battle Creek, MI) — Our Lady of the Lake High School used to be known as Lake Michigan Catholic.
It’s now making a name for itself in the MHSAA volleyball tournament.
The Lakers reached the Division 4 volleyball state finals for the first time in school history, downing #2 Mount Pleasant Sacred Heart in a five-set thriller, 3-2 (24-26, 25-22, 25-11, 26-28, 15-8)
Erin Cashen’s squad only has seven players on the roster, five seniors and two eighth-graders who are allowed to play because of the school’s tiny enrollment. That didn’t phase the Lakers who raised their record to 33-3-1 thanks to a monster match from outside hitter Nora Proos. Classmate Aislin Sargent set up Proos time and time again at the net, while JoJo Marsh had s superb serving game.
Our Lady of the Lake meets defending state champion Clarkston Everett in the state championship game Saturday morning at 10 a.m.
