Hidalgo returns, Irish whip SMU
(Notre Dame) — Hannah Hidalgo returned to the lineup with 23 points and 10 rebounds, and Olivia Miles added a double-double of her own, as the third-ranked Notre Dame women’s basketball team whipped SMU, 88-64, Sunday night.
Hidalgo had missed the last two games with a mild ankle sprain, but showed no ill effects in her return to the lineup. The sophomore added five steals, helping the Irish create 20 turnovers and hold SMU below 40 percent from the field.
Her backcourt mate, Miles, racked up 17 points, 10 rebounds and six assists as the Irish won their 11th straight game, raising their overall record to 16-2 and moving to 7-0 in Atlantic Coast Conference play.
Sonia Citron scored 11 points, while Liatu King added 10.
If there was one flaw in Notre Dame’s performance, it was a woeful 2-18 performance from three-point range.
The Irish now prepare for a Thursday night road clash at Boston College.
