Bi-County champs crowned in Saturday HS basketball action

LaVille’s boys and Bremen’s girls reign as champions of the 2025 Bi-County basketball tournament.
Collin Czarnecki buried a three with 2.7 seconds remaining as LaVille knocked off #5 Triton, 39-37, in Saturday night’s championship game at Dale E. Cox Gymnasium in Lakeville. The victory avenged a one-point loss to the Trojans just 18 days ago, as the Lancers raise their overall record to 10-5.
Eliana Grubbs scored 14 points and earned tournament MVP honors as Bremen conquered John Glenn for the girls championship, 42-29. Coach Alex Robinson’s Lions are now 19-2 on the year with the sectional draw tomorrow.
In other boys action Saturday
- Freshman Caleb Coolman tallies 32 as Penn beats its second ranked team of the weekend, topping IBCA #19 Fort Wayne Wayne, 67-66.
- 3A #1 St. Joe uses 24 points from Nick Shrewsberry to down #4 NorthWood, 72-60. Tyler Raasch scored 33 points with 11 rebounds for the Panthers.
- Steven Reynolds had the same stat line for Washington…33 points, 11 boards…as SB Washington cruised past Jimtown, 82-58.
- Luke Bricker and Brandt Martin combine for 45 points as #6 Warsaw wins its eighth straight, downing FW North, 79-57. The Tigers face NorthWood Friday on Sports Michiana
On the girls side
- Warsaw wins its 29th consecutive NLC game and fourth straight conference title with a 79-27 dismantling of Concord. Brooke Winchester led the way with 22 points
- Northridge moves to 19-4 on the season with a 68-52 Senior Day win over Fort Wayne Snider
- North Judson is now 16-4 after Whitney Combs’ Blue Jays stomped archrival Knox, 51-26.
