Big scoring nights highlight Tuesday HS hoops slate
A handful of Michiana high school basketball players had unforgettable nights to highlight Tuesday’s action.
On the boys side, Rochester’s Drew Bowers scored 48 as the Zebras topped Caston, 76-56. The 48-point effort is more than double Bowers’ previous career high, as he scored double figures in every quarter.
Fresh off Bi-County Tournament MVP honors, LaVille’s Collin Czarnecki continued to sizzle with 43 points, as the Lancers decimated Career Academy, 69-36.
Kane Dukes poured in 32, but needed a buzzer-beating three from freshman Jack Shoemaker to have Wawasee top Bethany Christian, 60-57.
The big numbers spread across the state line. Watervliet’s Jacob Pleyer scored 35 points with 12 assists as the Panthers downed Howardsville Christian, 64-55.
And it wasn’t just the boys who put up big numbers. Bremen’s Kila Foster scored 38 and passed her sister Ellie to become the Lions’ all-time leading scorer in a 74-44 triumph over South Bend Adams. The win secured Bremen its first 20-win season since 1991.
