Replay: Konieczny’s 3 in final seconds gives Saint Joe Holy War win as Marian honors 3 legends
Watch as Saint Joe beats Marian in the final seconds on a Chase Konieczny 3-pointer in front of a sold out crowd in the 92nd Holy War on the Hardwood.
Chase Konieczny is the 5th-leading scorer in St. Joseph County history. Points 1917-1919 of his career may be his most memorable.
Konieczny drained a 20-footer with 2.3 seconds left as #4 St. Joe held off a stubborn effort from archrival Marian, 57-54, to win the 92nd “Holy War of the Hardwood in front of a sold out crowd at Demetrius Jackson Court in our Sports Michiana Game of the Week.
Konieczny’s heroics overshadowed 20-point efforts from teammate Nick Shrewsberry and Marian’s Deuce Owens. The win keeps the Huskies alive in the hunt for the Northern Indiana Conference title. They are now 17-3 overall.
It also spoiled what was otherwise a magical night for Marian as the Knights retired the numbers of three of their legends who went on to play in the NBA: Demetrius Jackson, Devin Cannady and current Detroit Piston, Jaden Ivey.
Catch a replay of the game above and you can watch the full halftime ceremony honoring Jackson, Cannady and Ivey at the 1:06:00 mark of the broadcast.
