Chase Konieczny went off for 40 points and is now just 19 away from 2,000 in his career as the Saint Joseph boys basketball team rolled over Plymouth 93-62 Tuesday, one week ahead of the start of the IHSAA Sectionals.

Konieczny now sits at 1,981 career points, good for 3rd all time on the St. Joseph County scoring list. He needs just 16 more points to surpass his older brother JR as not only the all-time leading scorer at Saint Joe but also as 2nd place on the county scoring list. Chase needs just 19 more points to join Marcus Burton as the only boys basketball players in the history of the county to score 2,000 points. Burton has firm control of remaining at the top of the scoring list at 2,273 points.

Konieczny can reach the magical milestones Friday on Senior night when Saint Joe hosts Mishawaka in Chase’s final game at Alumni Gym. A victory would also give Saint Joe 20 wins on the season before they open sectionals against Washington on March 5th.
