Notre Dame women’s basketball players Kate Koval and Emma Risch have become the latest Irish players to enter the NCAA transfer portal Tuesday.
Koval, a 6-5 freshman from Kiev, Ukraine, played in 32 games, starting 10. She averaged 5.3 points and 4.7 rebounds per contest. Koval led the Irish with 55 blocked shots, but also showed a tendency to be trunover-prone.
Risch, a 6-1 sophomore from Melbourne, Florida, was plagued with a hip injury during her two seasons with the Irish. She only played seven games in her freshman year, and managed to get in 13 as a sophomore before the hip problem sidelined her for the last two months of the season. She was a proficient three-point shooter, connecting on 42% of her shots from beyond the arc.
The duo joins guard Olivia Miles in the transfer portal.
