Watch Replay: Warsaw wins Boys Track Regional Title on Record Night at Goshen

It was a night for breakthroughs and breaking records at Foreman Field.
The breakthrough came for Warsaw, as the Tigers claimed their first regional crown since 2016, scoring 74 points to outdistance Penn, which scored 60.5 at the Goshen boys track regional Thursday.
“Well, it is track AND field,” noted Warsaw coach Scott Erba afterwards. “Our field guys did so well. Jordan (Randall) won the high jump, and our throwers went 2-3 in the shot and 3-4-5 in the discus. Plus we went 2-6 in the pole vault. That’s a LOT of points.”
In fact, Randall’s win in the high jump (where he leaped 7-1 for the second straight week) was the only win of the night for the Tigers. And while that leap didn’t set a regional record, three other marks were shattered.
In the first race of the night, Concord’s quartet of Reid Sollars, Jaxson Meyer, Jacob Hernandez and Jack Yoder won the 4 x 800 meter relay in a time of 7:50.65. That carved five seconds off the mark set by Elkhart just last year. Yoder would be a double-winner, taking the 800-meter race as well. Concord won three regional titles as Donovan Arnold won the discus (190-05) and finished third in the team standings.
Westview’s Noah Bontrager was also a double-winner, taking the titles in both the 1600 and 3200-meter runs. The Notre Dame commit dazzled in the 1600, posting a time of 4:05.04 to break a 45-year-old mark by seven seconds. Then in the 3200, Bontrager’s clocking of 9:01.26 took 11 seconds off a 40-year standard.
One more record would fall in the field events, as Churubusco junior Weston Ott continued his magnificent season with a heave of 63-3 in the shot put, breaking the old record by exactly two feet.
It was quite the the final broadcast for the Sports Michiana Game of the Week for this sports season.

100-meter dash — Kellen Watson, Penn (10.83)
