They say good things come in threes. That was certainly the case Sunday when the WNBA announced its All-Star selections.

Three Notre Dame alums and three members of the Indiana Fever were named to the list of  players who will perform in the WNBA All-Star Game July 19 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

Leading the way for the Irish is South Bend’s own Skylar Diggins. The Washington High School grad’s seventh All-Star selection is her first as a member of the Seattle Storm. Diggins is averaging 18.5 points and six assists per game. Her 42% 3-point shooting has been key for the team.

Las Vegas’ Jackie Young makes her fourth straight All-Star appearance. Young is averaging 17.3 points, along with four rebounds and four assists per contest.

Washington rookie Sonia Citron is also named to the squad. Citron and Kiki Iriafen are just the second pair of rookie teammates named All-Stars in their debut season. Citron, the No. 3 overall pick this year, is averaging 14.6 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game, ranking second in scoring among rookies.

As for the Fever, Caitlin Clark was named as one of the captains, while teammate Aliyah Boston was named a starter on June 30th. On Sunday, Kelsey Mitchell was named to her third All-Star team. Mitchell is currently averaging 19.3 points per game and has posted double digit scoring performances in every game this season, bringing her active streak to 18 games.

Clark was named captain, due to receiving the most fan votes. The second-year star is averaging 18.2 points and a career-high 8.9 assists per game.

Boston is making her third consecutive All-Star appearance and her second straight as a starter. Boston is currently averaging 15 points and 8.2 rebounds per game, while leading the entire league in field goal percentage with 59.7%.

Clark and the other captain, Minnesota’s Napheesa Collier, will draft their respective rosters by selecting first from the remaining eight players in the pool of starters and then from the pool of 12 reserves. ESPN will broadcast the roster draft for the WNBA All-Star Game during an hourlong edition of WNBA Countdown on Tuesday, July 8 (7 p.m. ET).
