Blake Wesley dealt to Washington
South Bend Riley and Notre Dame basketball star Blake Wesley has been traded for the first time in his NBA career.
Wesley, Malaki Branham and a 2026 second-round draft pick are being sent from San Antonio to Washington. In exchange, the Spurs get veteran power forward Kelly Olynyk.
Wesley was the 25th pick of the Spurs in the 2022 draft. In three years in the league, the South Bend native has averaged 4.3 points and 2.4 assists per game. This season, he played the fewest minutes per game in his three seasons, and his scoring average as the lowest of his career as well.
The 22-year-old now joins a rebuilding Wizards squad that hasn’t made the playoffs since 2021. Last year, Washington went 18-64.
Meanwhile, the acquisition of Olynyk gives San Antonio some frontline depth behind star center Victor Wembayana.
