(Fayetteville, Ark.) — Jeremiyah Love scored four first-half touchdowns, CJ Carr fired four touchdown passes and Notre Dame dominated Arkansas, 56-13, Saturday afternoon in Fayetteville.

It’s the worst non-conference loss for an SEC team at home in the last 20 years. The victory raises the Irish to 2-2 on the year.

Notre Dame effortlessly gutted the Razorbacks defense in the first half, scoring on all six possessions and racking up 420 of their 641 yards for the game.

Love scored his first two touchdowns of the game in the first quarter, the first on a punishing one-yard run to make it 7-3. The second TD belongs on a highlight reel, as Love caught a pass from Carr in the left flat, eluded a tackle with an electrifying spin move and cruised in for the score to make it 14-3.

After Arkansas narrowed the gap to 14-10, Carr went to work, first hitting a lonely Will Pauling on a 23-yard strike, then tossing a throwback screen to Love, who followed a convoy of blockers 34 yards for the score to make it 28-10.

The Irish finished the job in the final minute of the second quarter. Love scored on a three-yard run, becoming the first player in Notre Dame history to have two rushing and receiving touchdowns in the same game. Adon Shuler then stripped an Arkansas receiver and recovered the fumble at the Razorback 45. Two plays later, Carr hit price who found a seam in the defense and raced 35 yards for the score to make it 42-13 at the half.

On the day, Carr was 22-of-30 passing for 354 yards.  Price had 86 rushing yards to lead the team.

Price and Aneyas Williams added rushing touchdowns in the second half, as the crowd thinned quickly.

Also of note was the best performance by the Irish defense this season. Notre Dame held Arkansas scoreless in the second half. The Razorbacks entered the contest scoring 43.5 points per game, but were stymied by the Irish for the final 33 minutes.

Notre Dame now awaits a visit from Boise State next Saturday for the annual “Irish Wear Green” game at Notre Dame Stadium.
