WATCH REPLAY: Penn edges Crown Point in Epic 6A Sectional Final
It had all the makings of a classic sectional championship game coming in and it surpassed all the hype in the end.
Mason Biernacki hauled in a 32 yard touchdown catch from Landon Hall with 1:47 left in the game and #5 Penn overcame four bad snaps on special teams to beat #2 Crown Point 28-24 to capture the 6A Sectional Championship Friday in front of a loud and energetic crowd at Freed Field.

The Kingsmen avenged losses to Crown Point each of the last two seasons to win their 27th sectional championship in program history.
Penn (11-0) will host Carroll (8-3) next week in the 6A Regionals.
Things couldn’t have started worse for Penn as AJ Summers bolted 68 yards on the first play from scrimmage to give Crown Point a 7-0 lead. Colden Hernandez answered with a 45 yard touchdown run with 2:45 left in the 1st quarter.
Landon Hall found Brayson Hurley who made a spectacular leap into the end zone for a 26 yard touchdown in the 2nd quarter. The Kingsmen would lead 14-10 at halftime.
That’s when Penn’s problems on special teams started. The Kingsmen couldn’t execute snaps on three consecutive punt attempts leading to Crown Point points. After the Bulldogs took the lead in the 3rd, Penn went for it on 4th and goal from the 2 and Hall hit Biernacki to put Penn ahead 21-17 heading to the 4th.
Summers came through again in the 4th with an 11 yard touchdown run to put Crown Point back in front 24-21 with 11 minutes remaining in the game. Penn attempted a field goal with just over 3 minutes remaining in the game when another bad snap prevented the Kingsmen from tying the game up.
Penn would force Crown Point to a 3 and out and got the ball with just over two minutes left. Less than 30 seconds later, Hall and Biernacki connected for the 2nd time it what would prove to be the game winning score.
