Opening night of the boys basketball season featured several highlights

• Will Coatie and Ryan Varga won their coaching debuts at their new schools. Coatie led Mishawaka to a 50-44 win over New Prairie, while Varga’s Jimtown squad topped Prairie Heights, 63-52
• Riley drilled 12 three-pointers in a 70-42 rout of LaPorte
• Brady Scholl scored 27 as Northridge handled Elkhart, 65-44, spoiling the debut of Bodie Bender as Lions’ head coach

The night also featured a bevy of girls basketball matchups

• Joslyn Bricker scored 16 as #7 Warsaw throttled Penn, 56-23
• A layup with three seconds remaining gives Marian a 36-35 win over Jimtown
• Madison Jones scores 22 as Fairfield tops county rival NorthWood, 42-32
