It was a battle of two of Michiana’s best girls basketball team and it lived up to the hype as Bremen defeated Culver Academies 39-35 to stay undefeated on our Sports Michiana Game of the Week.

With the game tied at 35 with less a minute to play, Emma Kincaid drove into the lane and pulled up for the short range jumper for what proved to be the game winning basketball. It was our Big C Lumber Big Play of the Game and Kincaid, who finished with 10 points, is our Reliance Player of the Game.

Eliana Grubbs and Emma Lawmaster each scored 9 for Bremen.

CGA freshman Laine Lyles led all scores with 19 points.

Bremen used a 11-0 run from the end of the 1st quarter into the 2nd quarter to go up 16-8. Culver Academies closed the gap to 2 by halftime. The 3rd quarter belonged to Lyles who a 3 pointer with 30 seconds left in the frame to put CGA up 33-30 headed to the 4th.

The senior led Lions took the reigns from there, playing outstanding defense and holding CGA to just two points in the final quarter.

Bremen all time great softball player Erin Coffel was in attendance and received a standing ovation when introduced to the crowd at the end of the 1st quarter.
