(Notre Dame) — Hannah Hidalgo is etching her name in the record books in record time.

Thursday night, it came just in time to save the Irish from another defeat.

Hidalgo scored 27 points with 10 steals as Notre Dame rallied from a six-point, fourth-quarter deficit to beat Miami, 74-66. In the process, Hidalgo became the fastest player in both Notre Dame and Atlantic Coast Conference history to hit the 2000-point mark for her career. She also passed former South Bend Washington star Skylar Diggins and became Notre Dame’s career leader in steals with 378.

Notre Dame (13-6 overall, 5-3 in ACC) needed every bit of Hidalgo’s effort to get past a stubborn Miami team that is desperately looking for a win that could propel them into NCAA tournament consideration. The Hurricanes (11-8, 305) seemed poised to do that when Ahnay Adams’ layup gave Miami a 60-54 lead with 9:10 remaining.

The Irish responded with a 14-3 run, sparked by two steals by Hidalgo that she quickly turned into baskets to tie the game at 61. Iyana Moore buried three of her 19 points with 2:48 remaining to up the margin to 68-62. Hidalgo and Moore then sealed the Irish win with superb free throw shooting down the stretch.

The win ends a stretch where Notre Dame had lost four of its last six. Niele Ivey’s squad will try to make it a winning week, when  Clemson pays a visit Sunday afternoon to Purcell Pavilion, with tipoff set for 3 p.m,
