Caleb Coolman scored 20 points and Lucas Obermeyer was fabulous with 15 points and 10 rebounds as Penn dominated the boards to defeat Adams 66-52 Friday in our Sports Michiana Game of the Week.

Penn improved to 11-3 overall and 3-0 in the Northern Indiana Conference. The Kingsmen are tied for first in the NIC with Saint Joseph and Marian, both of whom won Friday as well.

It was an unusual game that Penn led from start to finish but Adams never went away until the very end. The Kingsmen built the lead to double digits multiple times in the game, only to see Adams claw back to 5 or 6 or 4 points at various points. Adams would pull all the way back within 3 in the 4th quarter only to see the Kingsmen go on one more surge in the final minutes to win by 14.

Jarvis Tolbert led Adams with 20 points while Josh Johnson and Drew Dixon added 11 each. It’s the 4th straight loss for the Eagles after starting the season 10-0. Adams is now 1-2 in the NIC.

The Eagles hung in the game thanks to nine made 3 pointers but they couldn’t hold off Penn in rebounding with the Kingsmen winning that battle 42-23.

Obermeyer set the tone with 10 of those 42 rebounds and was our Reliance Player of the Game.

Penn finished with four players in double figures as Makale Price scored 12 and Cody Evans had 10.
