Class 4A #6 Northridge defeats Class 3A #5 Columbia City 59-48 in our Sports Michiana Game of the Week.

Brady Scholl scored 26 points and blocked seven shots as Class 4A #6 Northridge defeated Class 3A #5 Columbia City 59-48 Friday to improve to 20-1 on the season.

With the win, the Raiders pick up back-to-back 20 wins season for the first time in program history.

An electric back-and-forth top 10 showdown changed dramatically midway through the 2nd quarter. With Northridge ahead 26-25, Columbia City senior Owen Marshall stole a pass and slammed home a basketball to put the Eagles up by 1. As Marshall allowed for Northridge players to clear underneath him, Marshall was assessed a technical foul for hanging on the rim. After the call, Marshall pumped his arms in the area to illicit cheers from his own fan base and was whistled for a 2nd technical foul. Despite pleas from Columbia City coach Matt Schauss, Marshall faced an automatic ejection from the game because of the two technical fouls.

The controversial sequence proved to be the difference in the game.

Hayden Johnson hit 2 of 4 technical free throws and Scholl made a basket after Northridge retained possession to put the Raiders back up by 3. Northridge extended the run to 10-0 and Columbia City scored just one point the rest of the 1st half to trail 36-28 at the half.

The Raiders retained that lead in the 2nd half to win their 14th straight game.

With the loss, Columbia City falls to 17-4.
