Hidalgo named USA Today All-American
Notre Dame guard Hannah Hidalgo is one of three players who are unanimous First Team choices for USA TODAY Sports’ 2025-26 All-American women’s basketball squad.
The two other unanimous selections are UConn sophomore forward Sarah Strong and Vanderbilt guard Mikayla Blakes. Texas junior forward Madison Booker and UCLA senior center Lauren Betts round out the first-team choices.
Now the two-time ACC Player and Defensive Player of the Year, Hidalgo absolutely carried the short-handed Fighting Irish this season on both ends of the floor. She’s third in the nation in scoring with 25.2 points per game and first in steals with 5.4. In the ACC Tournament, Hidalgo broke the Irish record for steals in a single-season and is 19 away from tying Chastadie Barr of Lamar’s all-time mark for the NCAA record.
Notre Dame’s women’s squad is 22-10 and awaits their tournament seeding with Selection Sunday this weekend. Top four seeds get to host first-and second-round games, but the Irish are unlikely to get that nod.
