Notre Dame vs IU is already Sold Out
The hottest ticket in Indiana is already a sell out.
Notre Dame announced in an email Monday that their College Football Playoff Game against Indiana on Friday, December 20th at Notre Dame Stadium is already sold out—even before getting to a public sale.
“This game is SOLD OUT, following all presales and lotteries for eligible members,” Notre Dame wrote in a promotional email sent to fans. “Tickets will not be available for public purchase.”
Those eligible for presales and lotteries included season ticket holders, students and faculty & staff. There was also an allotment for IU. While the game is sold out, not everyone in the lottery has been informed yet on whether they are receiving tickets or not.
Face value tickets were as low as $100 per ticket for the upper bowl. Now that the game is sold out and the only place to get tickets is the secondary market, prices have skyrocketed.
Notre Dame is encouraging fans to visit SeatGeek, their official secondary market partner, to purchase tickets at this point. The lowest priced ticket on SeatGeek after fees is $1,337 for a single ticket in the upper deck of the end zone. The lowest price for two tickets together is $1,486 per ticket after fees.
Notre Dame and Indiana will be the very first College Football Playoff Game played on a college campus and will kickoff at 8pm on December 20th. It will be broadcast on ESPN and ABC.
“It’s exciting,” Marcus Freeman said Sunday. “To say you are a part of the first home playoff game in Notre Dame history is humbling and exciting. You can’t help but notice what a terrific job they’ve done at Indiana this year to go 11-1 in the Big Ten Conference & win some games against some really good opponents, speaks to where that program is. We understand the challenge we have coming up.”
Notre Dame and Indiana are meeting for the 30th time, with Notre Dame leading the series 23-5-1 with a 13-1-1 record at Notre Dame Stadium vs the Hoosiers. The last meeting between the two teams came on Sept. 7, 1991, a 49-27 Irish win at Notre Dame Stadium. IU’s only win ever at Notre Dame Stadium came in 1898.
In Curt Cignetti’s 1st season as head coach, the Hoosiers have shocked the college football world by making a run to the playoffs with a program that has traditionally been among the lowest performing teams of the power four conferences.
“We were the feel good story of College Football for a long time & then all of sudden you had teams concerned about their status on being 1 of the 12 & you saw people taking shots,” Cignetti said about the season and dealing with noise. “I asked these guys to eliminate the noise & clutter every week but I’m certain leading up to the Ohio State game, they were seeing quite a bit of that. We didn’t play our best game against Ohio State. I do think there are lessons coming out of the game.”
Cignetti said dealing with literal noise was the biggest takeaway from the Ohio State loss. He says they did a poor job with communication as a result. He says in every single practice now, they are blasting loud noise to combat things and make adjustments and feels they will be ready when they come to South Bend.
