Berrien Springs’ Frakes commits to Oregon
(Berrien Springs) — It was an offer he could not refuse.
Last Thursday, Oregon basketball coach Dana Altman gave JJ Frakes his first Division I offer. On Monday, the Berrien Springs star accepted and gave a verbal commitment to the Ducks.
During his junior season with the Shamrocks, Frakes averaged 24 points a game, shot 36 percent on three-pointers, and made 45 percent of his shots from the field.
Frakes missed all of spring and summer AAU basketball with an injury that slowed offers. He had received interest from Purdue, Michigan and Arizona State.
The 6-4 guard has the reputation for being an athletic playmaker. Frakes and the Shamrocks face undefeated New Buffalo tonight.
