Miles triple-double, Ivey’s 100th highlight Irish win over Virginia
(Notre Dame) — Notre Dame’s women’s basketball team played a game of “can you top this” Sunday at Purcell Pavilion.
Virginia just happened to be there.
The Irish walloped the Cavaliers, 95-54, with Hannah Hidalgo leading the way 28 points. That was just the tip of the iceberg.
Sonia Citron poured in 25 points with 11 rebounds for a double-double. However, that was overshadowed by Olivia Miles, who became the first Power-Four player since Caitlin Clark to record consecutive triple-doubles. Miles finished the afternoon with 11 points, 10 rebounds and 14 assists.
And all of that came in Niele Ivey’s 100th win as the Irish women’s basketball coach. She’s not only the fastest coach in Notre Dame women’s basketball to hit that mark…she’s the fastest in ACC history as well.
Oh, yeah, the Irish played pretty good defense as well, limiting Virginia to under 30 percent shooting from the field, and outrebounding the Cavaliers, 54-31.
The third-ranked Irish are now 11-2 overall (2-0 ACC) as they visit North Carolina for their 2025 debut next Sunday.
