State Champion Coach Reynolds steps down at Washington
State Champion coach Steven Reynolds announced on Tuesday he has stepped down as the the head girls basketball coach at Washington after 11 seasons.
Reynolds had incredible success in his decade plus on the west side, leading Washington to the 2022 State Championship. Overall the Panthers made it to the state finals three times under Reynolds, who was 189-89 in his 11 seasons.
It was a family affair for the Reynolds family. His wife was his lead assistant and three of his daughters were his star players over the years.
“I can say with all my heart, that I have given all I have to Washington and the city of South Bend, IN during my tenure as head coach,” Reynolds said in a Facebook post. “My family and I have served and sacrificed much… blood, sweat, and tears to ensure the development, success, and promotion, of one of the best public school girls basketball programs in the country.”
Reynolds says he’s pursuing new opportunities in his coaching career.
