Washington hires Moe Scott, Sr. as boys hoops coach
(South Bend) — A familiar name is returning to the Great Western Forum.
Moe Scott, Sr., who guided the Washington girls to the state championship game in 2009, will be back at Washington as the boys basketball coach, pending board approval.
Scott has served as the girls basketball coach at John Adams for the last two seasons. In fact, all of Scott’s eight seasons as a head coach have been in girls basketball, where he has posted a career mark of 111-69.
Scott does have experience in the boys game as an assistant to the legendary Mark Johnson, first at Riley and then at St. Joseph.
Scott succeeds Ryan Varga as Washington boys coach, after Varga departed to take the job at Jimtown. Washington still has not filled its girls basketball vacancy, created by the resignation of Steven Reynolds, Jr. in March.
