Wednesday night was one for the record books for Hannah Hidalgo–multiple record books as she led Notre Dame to a 85-58 win over Akron at Purcell Pavilion.
Hidalgo set a new Notre Dame women’s basketball record by scoring 44 points, surpassing the old mark of 41 set by Ruth Riley in 1999 and Jewell Loyd in 2014. But that wasn’t even her most impressive stat of the night.
Hidalgo had an incredible 16 steals, which is the most ever since the NCAA began tracking steals in the 80s. The previous NCAA record was 14.
She also dished out four assists and finished with nine rebounds, leaving her one shy of a triple double.
Cassandre Prosper was the only other Irish player to score in double figures. She scored 14.
Notre Dame is now 3-0 on the season. They’ll face Michigan in Detroit Saturday at 4pm on NBC.
