NorthWood erased a 14-point 1st half deficit then went on a 19-0 run starting at the end of the 3rd quarter to beat Triton 58-47 Friday night at the Trojan Trench in Bourbon in our Sports Michiana Game of the Week.

Senior Brogan Ferrell was our Reliance Player of the game, leading the Panthers with 17 points and five rebounds as NorthWood improved to 2-0 on the season.

Triton, which returns four starters from a team that reached the 1A SemiState a year ago, jumped out to a 19-7 lead after one quarter and built the lead to as many as 14 early in the 2nd quarter. The Panthers found themselves, outscoring Triton 20-8 in the 2nd quarter to even the game at 27 at halftime.

NorthWood led by two late in the 3rd quarter when Triton called a timeout to setup a potentially game tying bucket. Instead NorthWood forced the turnover and Caleb Vincent made a beautiful pass to Ferrell who finished it off for the basket with two seconds left in the quarter. It was our Big C Lumber Big Play of the Game as it ignited a 19-0 NorthWood rally that extended deep into the 4th. The Trojans didn’t score its first points of the 4th quarter until there was 2:30 left in the game.

Davis Everingham and Collin Deatsman each scored 12 points as they combined for six of NorthWood’s eight made 3-pointers in the game.

Julian Swanson led Triton with 13 points while Jayden Overmyer and Brady Wood added 12.

Triton falls to 2-1 on the season with the loss.
