Adriana Swanson’s quest to become the first South Bend public school athlete to win back to back state titles in girls track did not come to be Saturday but the South Bend Washington senior still put on a great performance in her final meet of her prep career at the IHSAA Girls Track and Field State Finals.

After winning the 100m Hurdles State title last year, Swanson finished 3rd this year with a time of 14.11 seconds. The IU bound senior also finished 3rd in the 300m Hurdles with a time of 43.19 seconds. She was 8th in the 300 last year.

And as Swanson’s day in the high school spotlight comes to an end, another South Bend runner enters the conversation.

Adams sophomore Jaidyn Kimbrough burst onto the state scene with a 2nd place finish in the 200m Dash with a school record setting time of 24.46 seconds. She also finished 4th in the 100m Dash with a time of 12.20 seconds.

Goshen capped off the night with a runner up finish in the 4x400m relay thanks to the efforts of Destiny Ssnchez, Lainey Trenshaw, Amari Lind and Kristina Petkova. The RedHawk quartet came in at 3 minutes and 51.16 seconds. Lind also finished 3rd in the 200m Dash while Petkova was 10th in the 400m Dash. Goshen finished 15th as a team.

Fairfield junior Emma Walter finished 3rd in the 100m Dash in 12.15 seconds. Teammate Claira Foust was 8th in the high jump.

Saint Joseph junior Lydia Goodsell finished 4th in the long jump and Northridge senior Dakotah Moore was 9th in the 3200m run.
