Week eight was deemed “trap week”…but no one fell into the trap and now the stage is set for four area “battle of the unbeaten” games to decide conference titles next week in the Sports Michiana coverage area.

We’ll carry the game between #1 Warsaw and #7 Northridge for the Northern Lakes Conference title next week. The Tigers held off a stubborn Concord team, 37-29, while Northridge blitzed county rival NorthWood, 45-7.

#6 Penn (8-0) and #6 Saint Joseph (8-0) cruised into the Northern Indiana Conference title game with lopsided wins. Penn buried New Prairie, 59-7, while Saint Joseph blanked SB Washington, 66-0

In the Hoosier North Conference, #2 Pioneer (8-0) will visit #3 North Judson (8-0). The Panthers crushed Triton, 66-7, but North Judson need 14 points in the fourth quarter to rally past Caston, 21-14.

And in Michigan’s Wolverine Conference, Vicksburg (7-0) will face Edwardsburg (7-0). The Bulldogs fought off Niles, while Edwardsburg downed Three Rivers, 42-21

Also of note Friday, in our Sports Michiana “Game of the Week”, South Bend Adams (5-3) secured its first winning regular season since 2016, blanking city rival Riley, 23-0. Jarvis Samuel-Banner ran 27 times for 116 yards and two touchdowns in the victory.
