Three teams in the Sports Michiana coverage area are featured in the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association (IBCA) preseason girls basketball poll.
Northridge checks in at #10, while Warsaw ranks 12th and South Bend Washington is tied for 17th. The IBCA poll ranks a top-20 of all schools in the state, with no regard to class affiliation. All three of the schools listed play in Class 4A.
The Indiana high school girls basketball season opened Monday night, with Riley handling Mishawaka, 58-19.
Rebekah Parker takes over at Tippecanoe Valley, opening with perennial power Norwell Tuesday night. Another one of those new coaches, Ashli Faulkner, makes her debut at Triton Wednesday night against longtime foe John Glenn.
Some of the more intriguing matchups on the opening-week schedule include Elkhart at Fairfield Tuesday night. Thursday night’s schedule includes New Prairie at Plymouth, Rochester at North Judson and South Bend Adams facing 1A power Michigan City Marquette.
