- Class 4A 8th-ranked South Bend Washington girls basketball team opened its season tonight, crushing Goshen, 93-14. Steven Reynolds’ Panthers started with a 36-0 first quarter and cruised from there.
- Meanwhile, Class 1A Michigan City Marquette is ranked #2 there and the Blazers showed why tonight, forcing 30 Adams turnovers on the way to a 66-26 triumph.
- A pair of new coaches picked up their first wins at their schools. Rebekah Parker led Tippy Valley to a win at Northwestern, while Mike Megyese’s Westville debut was successful, downing Winamac, 5735. Freshman Hillary Labis poured in 29.
