#6 ND women pound Purdue, 102-58
(West Lafayette) — At Purdue, the phrase is “Boiler Up, Hammer Down”.
Sunday night, it was Notre Dame’s women’s basketball team that put the hammer down on Purdue.
The sixth-ranked Irish jumped out to a 9-0 lead and never looked back on the way to a 102-58 thumping of the Boilermakers. Hannah Hidalgo lead the way with 28 points and seven rebounds as the Irish raised their record to 2-0 on the season.
Liatu King scored another double-double, as the transfer tallied 18 points with 15 rebounds. Olivia Miles added 17, including a halfcourt shot to end the third quarter. Sonia Citron saw her first action of the season and racked up 14 points.
Notre Dame’s defense held Purdue to just 33% shooting and outrebounded the Boilermakers by a 53-28 margin. It’s Notre Dame’s seventh consecutive win over their in-state rivals.
Former South Bend Washington standout Rashunda Jones scored six for Purdue, while high school and current teammate Amiyah Reynolds added a basket.
