Irish women knock off #3 USC, 74-61
(Los Angeles) — The stars were out Saturday in Los Angeles, including Snoop Dogg sitting at center court in a Juju Watkins jacket.
But the stars that shone the brightest were Hannah Hidalgo and Olivia Miles.
The Irish backcourt tandem combined for 44 points, 14 rebounds and 15 assists as the sixth-ranked Irish dazzled #3 USC, 74-61 at a sold-out Galen Center.
Notre Dame also displayed tremendous defense, forcing 21 turnovers, holding the Trojans to a meager 36% shooting percentage from the floor and a mere 1-of-13 from three-point range.
After jumping to a 20-10 first quarter lead, Notre Dame saw the Trojans close within three in the third quarter behind Watkins, as the All-America selection finished with 24 points.
Hidalgo and Miles then scored the next eight points for the Irish to close the quarter and USC Never threatened after that.
Niele Ivey’s squad is now 5-0 as they head to the Cayman Islands to play TCU next Friday.
