Hidalgo grabs 2nd straight ACC Player of the Week honor
(Charlotte) — Notre Dame sophomore guard Hannah Hidalgo has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for games played between November 18-24.
Hidalgo shined in Notre Dame’s marquee 74-61 win at No. 3 USC on Saturday, as the Merchantville, New Jersey, native tallied a team-high 24 points with six rebounds, eight assists and five steals. With the standout performance, the guard posted her 10th career game with at least 20 points, five rebounds, five assists and five steals, the most by a Division I player over the last 25 seasons. The 24 points marked her 30th career game with 20 points or more after making just 40 career appearances.
The 5-0 Irish moved up to third in this week’s AP poll, behind UCLA and UConn. The Bruins upset previously top-ranked South Carolina Sunday, ending the Gamecocks’ 43-game win streak.
