Interview: Notre Dame great Bryant Young shares his inspiring story
On the November 25th and December 2nd editions of Notre Dame Federal Credit Union’s Irish Football Fix, host Angelo Di Carlo spoke with Notre Dame legend Bryant Young in our Focus on Faith interview. The interview was so great we broke it up into two segments on the radio show but have combined them here into one easy to listen to podcast about the amazing career and life Bryant has lived.
Young was an outstanding defensive lineman at Notre Dame and captain of the 1993 Irish squad. We discuss why he chose Notre Dame and that wild 93 season. He also shares the incredible story of how he and his now long time wife began dating while at ND.
Young went on to a lengthy Hall of Fame NFL career but also had to overcome a gruesome injury that nearly resulted in amputation.
We also discuss the passing of Young’s son Colby to cancer and how inspired the family was by Colby’s fight. Bryant gives a moving tribute about his faith growing even stronger through the fight.
And we start the conversation talking about another son Bryce, who is a freshman having a standout rookie season for the Irish. Bryant explains how important it is for him to be a Notre Dame dad right now over being a former Notre Dame player.
