Hannah Hidalgo scored 17 points, grabbed eight rebounds and dished out five assists—in the 1st half—as #8 Notre Dame road the coattails of their sophomore sensation to a 79-68 win over #2 UConn at Purcell Pavilion.
Hidalgo finished with 29 points, 10 rebounds, 8 assists and three steals as she dazzled the South Bend crowd for Notre Dame’s 2nd top 5 win in a week and 3rd of the season. Notre Dame’s three wins over top 5 opponents is as many as the rest of college basketball combined.
It’s the 1st loss of the season for UConn as their star Paige Bueckers scored 25 in defeat.
Liatu King scored 16 points and grabbed 12 rebounds and Olivia Miles also scored 16 for Notre Dame.
Hidalgo put on a show in front of some of Notre Dame’s all time greats that were in attendance including Skylar Diggins, Arike Ogunbowale, Jewell Loyd & Marina Mabrey.
The Irish have won 3 in a row after 2 straight losses and are now 8-2 on the season. They are back at home Sunday at 2pm against Eastern Michigan.
