ND’s Watts repeats as 1st team AP All-American
Notre Dame safety Xavier Watts has been named a First Team All-American by the Associated Press (AP).
This marks the second-straight year in which Notre Dame has had a two-time AP First Team All-American, as Watts joins Irish offensive lineman Joe Alt (2022-23). Watts is one of two repeat first-team selections this season, joining Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter.
Watts, a Notre Dame team captain, was also named an AFCA and Walter Camp First-Team All-American, both for the second-consecutive season.
Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter of Colorado was a first-team selection at two spots and a second-team pick at another, Hunter was named to the First Team offense as an all-purpose player, First Team defense as a cornerback and Second Team offense as a wide receiver.
Western Michigan had a First Team offense selection in senior guard Addison West.
Michigan junior defensive tackle Mason Graham was named to the First Team Defense, while junior kicker Dominic Zvada was a Second-Team selection. Former Merrillville High School star Kenneth Grant received Third Team accolades at defensive line, along with cornerback Will Johnson.
Joining them on the Third Team defense is defensive end Mikail Kamara of Indiana. He is the first Hoosier defensive lineman to make an AP All-America team since 2007.
