(Clemson, S.C.) — Even with star Hannah Hidalgo sidelined in a boot for precautionary reasons, Notre Dame’s 3rd-ranked women’s basketball team stayed perfect in ACC play with a 67-58 triumph over Clemson Sunday afternoon at Littlejohn Coliseum.
Liatu King recorded another double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds to led the Irish, who advance to 14-2 and 5-0 in conference play. Olivia Miles added 17 points with nine assists.
Hidalgo had rolled the ankle in Thursday night’s win over Wake Forest, and was held out of action today to give the injury a chance to heal. Her absence was particularly a factor defensively, as the Irish only managed three steals against the Tigers (10-7, 3-3).
Miles scored nine of her points in the first quarter as the Irish built a 17-11 lead, and increased the lead to 30-22 by halftime.
Hannah Kohn knocked down three of her team-high 14 points in the 4th to close the gap to three points with 9:35 left. King responded by scoring eight of Notre Dame’s next ten points to help secure the victory.
Notre Dame entertains #13 Georgia Tech Thursday night at Purcell Pavilion with tipoff at 6 p.m.
