Irish women down Cal, will face Duke in ACC semis

(Greensboro, N.C.) — Second-seeded Notre Dame (26-4) topped No. 7 California (25-8) in the ACC tournament quarterfinals Friday, 73-64. The Golden Bears had a 6-point lead with 5:08 to play in the third quarter before the Irish offense came alive and battled back to advance to the ACC semifinals.
ACC Player of the Year Hannah Hidalgo led the way with 25 points, and Olivia Miles had 14,points and 12 assists.
The Irish backcourt helped spark a 12-0 run late in the third to give the Irish the lead for good. Miles and Hidalgo combined for 19 of Notre Dame’s 24 points in the quarter.
Up next, Notre Dame will play Duke in the tournament semifinals. The game starts at 2:30 Saturday afternoon and will air on ESPN2.
