(Bremen) — It’s a case of “back to the future” in Bremen.

Justin Bogunia, who was a member of the Lions’ 1989 state championship football team and a 1992 alum, will return to his alma mater as head football coach, pending board approval.

Bogunia served as head football coach at John Glenn for 15 seasons (1998–2012), where he also held the role of Athletic Director for nine years. During his tenure, he became the winningest coach in John Glenn Football history, compiling a career record of 101-67 and leading the Falcons to 14 consecutive winning seasons. Under his leadership, the program captured two sectional championships and one regional title.

After his time at John Glenn, Bogunia moved to the Nashville, Tennessee area and served as an assistant coach at Lipscomb Academy from 2012 to 2019. He later returned to Michiana, joining LaVille as offensive coordinator from 2021-23. During his final two seasons at LaVille, the team posted an impressive 21-3 record and set a school record with 11 wins in a single season.

Bogunia and his wife, Cayce, currently reside in Bremen. He is expected to be approved at the May 14 board meeting.
