Riley, ND star Wesley signs with Portland
(Portland) — Blake Wesley, who rose to basketball stardom at Riley High School and Notre Dame, has signed a free agent contract with the NBA”s Portland Trail Blazers.
Trail Blazers General Manager Joe Cronin made the announcement Tuesday. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Selected No. 25 overall in the 2022 NBA Draft by San Antonio, the 6-3, 190-pound Wesley has spent three NBA seasons with the Spurs—appearing in 156 total games (four starts) and averaging 4.3 points, 2.4 assists and 1.5 rebounds in 14.3 minutes per game.
Wesley was traded by the Spurs to Washington earlier this summer, but agreed to a contract buyout with the Wizards over the weekend to pursue free agency.
Portland posted a 36-46 record last season, missing the playoffs in the Western Conference. The Trail Blazers have been active in the offseason, adding Damian Lilliard and Jrue Holliday to the roster, which also includes double-digit scorers Shaedon Sharpe and Jerami Grant.
