If the College Football Playoffs began today, Notre Dame would be the 9th seed–moving up one spot in the latest College Football Playoff Rankings.

That, of course, may not be a great thing for the 7-2 Irish since it would mean they would open on the road at #8 Oregon with the winning face #1 Ohio State in the quarterfinals.

Notre Dame’s two losses comes to #15 Miami, who is seeded 11th as the highest ranked ACC team, and #3 Texas A&M. The Irish have a win over now #17 USC and will go on the road to #22 Pitt on Saturday.

The Top 4 remained unchanged in the 2nd week of the CFP Rankings: #1 Ohio State, #2 Indiana, #3 Texas A&M and #4 Alabama would receive a 1st round bye if the postseason started.

If the playoffs started today…. It would look like this:

#12 South Florida at #5 Georgia (winner to face #4 Alabama)
#9 Notre Dame at #8 Oregon (winner to face #1 Ohio State)
#11 Miami at #6 Texas Tech (winner to face #3 Texas A&M)
#10 Texas at #7 Ole Miss (winner to face #2 Indiana)
