The Lakeshore girls soccer team entered Wednesday night’s clash with arch rival St. Joseph (MI) as the underdog but they didn’t play like they were.

Molly Foster scored minutes into the game and Sophie de la Foret had double digit saves as the Lancers battled the Bears to a 1-1 tie in front of an energetic crowd at Dickinson Stadium in our Sports Michiana Game of the Week.

Lakeshore was just 5-7 entering the night, an uncharacteristic down season for what is usually one of the best teams in Michigan year and year out. The Lancers have just four seniors total with just two starting. But one thing the senior class had going into the night–they had never lost to St. Joseph.

The Bears seniors were hoping that streak would come to an end and had to rally to try and do so. Senior Charlotte Steel evened the score at 1 in the 2nd half on a gorgeous goal that proved to be our Big C Lumber Play of the Game.

But St. Joe could not get another goal past de la Foret, who was our Reliance Player of the Game.
