A Lakeshore high jumper and long jumper and two relay teams from Eau Claire earned Michigan High School Athletic Association state championships Saturday.

At the Division 2 competition in Hamilton, Lakeshore high jumper Declin Doroh and long jumper Leigha Whitman both earned the second state titles of their individual careers. Doroh, a senior, went 6-10 in the high jump to defeat last year’s state champion, Edwardsburg’s Zach Overmyer by four inches.  Doroh also won the high jump as a sophomore in 2024.

Whitman, a junior, made it back-to-back state championships, turning in her personal best in the long jump to go 18 feet, 11.75 inches. Edwardsburg’s Sarina Mora finished third at 17-9.75.

In the Division 4 finals at Hudsonville, Eau Claire’s quartet of Melvin Davis, Devin Hill, A’darion Fort and Elijah Marlowe owned both sprint relays. The foursome won the 4 x 100 title in 43.36 seconds, then came back to take the 4 x200 crown in 1:30.07, over a second faster than runner-up Manchester.

Those relay squads mark Eau Claire’s first track champions since Patrick Patterson won the long jump in 2007
