(Knox) — It worked out pretty well when Knox High School hired Russ Radtke as the head football coach. The Redskins hope someone with that same last name can help the boys basketball program.

Pending board approval next week, Wes Radtke will be named as the new Knox boys basketball coach.

Wes has spent the last decade as the girls basketball coach at Rensselaer Central, leading the Bombers to a Class 2A state runner-up finish in 2025. His Bomber teams have posted a record of 166-77 in his tenure there, but they are a spectacular 69-9 the last three seasons.

Wes is familiar with the area, graduating from North Judson in 1995. He began his coaching career with assistant jobs, first with the North Judson boys program and then with Oregon-Davis on the girls side. This will be his first boys head coaching job.

Wes Radtke replaces Jason Breden, who left to become the Plymouth head coach. Radtke inherits a program that went 8-15 last season with the top player, 1000-point scorer Myles McLaughlin, graduating and heading to Murray State on a football scholarship.
