(Speedway) — The Indianapolis Motor Speedway had an incredible finish in May. It’s golf course at Brickyard Crossing was the stage for another one in July.

Former Fairfield star and IHSAA boys golf state champion Brayden Miller added to his trophy case with a dramatic victory at the 111th Indiana Open Wednesday afternoon.

Miller shot a final round 68 to forge a three-way tie with three-time champion Michael Davan of Zionsville and Brownstown’s Micah Sheffer, all at 7-under par for the 54-hole tournament. On the second playoff hole, Miller drained a 25-foot birdie putt for the championship.

Miller just completed his freshman season at the University of Cincinnati, and is the first amateur champion of the event since 2018.  He becomes the first local player to win the Indiana Open since Syracuse’s Stephen Conrad in 2012.
