College Football’s great intersectional rivalry will return in 2030.

Notre Dame announced on Monday that is has agreed to a 4-game home-and-home series with arch rival USC from 2030 to 2033.

Notre Dame will travel to Los Angeles to take on USC on Aug. 31, 2030, and the Trojans will pay a visit to Notre Dame Stadium on Aug. 30, 2031. The meetings in 2032 and 2033 will each be played in the first three weeks of the season.

The early season matchups are a change from what had been the norm in the rivalry game that was started in 1926. Since 1960, the Irish and Trojans would play in the regular season finale when the game was scheduled for Los Angeles and in mid October when the game was set for South Bend.

When USC moved to the Big Ten, keeping that traditional format became a problem for the Trojans and the two sides could not agree to an extension, resulting in a break in the series beginning this season.

Notre Dame won the 2025 game in South Bend 34-24.

The four year break in the series from 2026-2029 will be the longest since the series began 100 years ago. Notre Dame and USC have played every year with the exception of World War II (1943-1945) and the 2020 Covid season. The Irish lead the 96 game series 53-38-5 and have won eight of the last 10 matchups.
