(Mishawaka) — The 66th renewal of the local rivalry known as “The Holy War” wasn’t much of a battle Friday as 5th ranked Saint Joseph cruised to a 44-9 win over Marian.

Saint Joseph senior quarterback Sam Scicchitano threw three touchdown passes and was our Player of the Game, presented by the Diocese of Fort Wayne South Bend Catholic Schools, as the Huskies improved to 4-0 on the season.

It’s the 2nd straight straight win for Saint Joe over Marian after the Huskies rolled to a 31-0 win last year. Prior to that, Marian had won 9 of the previous 11 meetings. Saint Joe leads the all time series 38-28.

A moving 25 second moment of silence to honor the 25th anniversary of the September 11th attacks followed by the pregame prayer and national anthem highlighted the pregame festivities at Bob Otolski Field.

Saint Joseph will host Adams (3-1) next Friday while Marian (1-3) will have to face Penn (4-0).
