Cignetti signs 8-year deal at IU: Ball State fires Neu

It has been a busy Saturday morning of college football coaching news in Indiana.

Multiple reports say Indiana football coach Curt Cignetti has signed an eight-year extension through the end of the 2032 season. The deal is reportedly worth $* million per year with an additional annual $1 million retention bonus.  That would mark an unprecedented investment into the Indiana football program.

In his first season at Indiana, Cignetti is 10-0 and has the Hoosiers ranked #5 in the College Football Playoff rankings.

It’s a different story in Muncie, where Ball State has fired head coach Mike Neu, in the midst of a 3-7 season.

Neu has gone 40-63 in nine seasons at Ball State. Neu won the MAC title in 2020, which was his only winning season at Ball State. Offensive line coach Colin Johnson has been named the interim head coach.
