#3 Irish women down BC
(Chestnut Hill, MA) — Methodical and business-like throughout, Notre Dame’s third-ranked women’s basketball team rolled past Boston College, 89-63, Thursday night at the Conte Forum.
Hannah Hidalgo led the way with 23 points, five rebounds and five steals, while backcourt mate Olivia Miles added 16 points. Maddie Westbeld played one of her best games since returning to the lineup, hitting 6-7 from the field, including a pair of three-pointers for 14 points.
Boston College actually led 18-17 after one, but the Irish broke the game open with 8-0 run midway through the second. Westbeld and Miles bookended the spurt with threes, as the Irish shot 52% for the game. The lead ballooned to 10 by halftime and never went under double-digits in the second half.
The win is the 12th straight for Niele Ivey’s squad, which is now 17-2 for the season and 8-0 in Atlantic Coast Conference play.
Notre Dame now has a week before its next game, when the Irish will visit Virginia Tech January 30.
