Interview: From Purdue QB to ND Grad to Priest
A Purdue quarterback transfers to Notre Dame to become a priest.
That’s quite the story.
And it’s the real true life story of Father Thomas Haan.
You won’t want to miss this excellent conversation in this week’s Focus on Faith from Notre Dame Federal Credit Union’s Irish Football ahead of Notre Dame and Purdue battling Saturday at Notre Dame Stadium.
Haan was a standout quarterback at Lafayette Central Catholic and walked on to the football team as a quarterback. After leaving the team following a change in the QBs coach, Haan received THE call. He transferred to Notre Dame and eventually became a priest.
He now serves as the pastor at St. Louis de Montfort Catholic Church in Fishers, Indiana.
Haan can from a faith filled house living on a farm in Lafayette. His world was rocked at the age of 7 when his little brother Jacob was killed in a car crash. Fr. Haan’s explanation of how this brother’s death led him closer to his faith is an inspiring one.
