Northridge scored the game’s first 7 points to lead 18-13 after one quarter behind a monster opening period from Scholl. Saint Joe came storming back in the 2nd quarter, outscoring the Raiders 23-13 to take a 36-31 lead into halftime.

Elijah King hit a 3 from the top of the key midway through the 3rd quarter to push Saint Joe’s lead to 48-40. King led the Huskies with 22 points.

And just as it felt the Raiders were running out of gas, they flipped the switch and went on a 13-2 run to close out the 3rd behind some critical 3s from Hayden Johnson. The Raiders took a 53-50 lead into the 4th.

Saint Joe kept it close for most of the 4th quarter, closing to within 2 at 60-58 with 2:41 left. When King fouled out with two minutes left, the Huskies were not able to get any closer and Northridge pulled away thanks to critical free throws from Schlabach. Three Saint Joe players ended up fouling out while Johnson, who scored 10, fouled out for Northridge.

Ryder Place scored 10, Nick Shrewsberry 9, KJ Avery 9, Braylen White 8 and Ethan Roseman 4 in the final games of their high school careers. Saint Joe, the defending state champions in Class 3A who moved up a class this season based on success factor, saw their 14 game win streak end. The Huskies finished at 21-5 on the season.

It’s the 19th straight win for Northridge, which improves to 25-1 and now will wait for the SemiState draw on Sunday to find out who, where and when they will play next Saturday in Class 4A.
